Fall is here

Hard to believe once again how fast time goes.  Here in Maine the leaves are turned and when the sun is out it is absolutely gorgeous!  What a mighty God we serve, the one who spoke creation into being and all the beauty we enjoy!

We are winding up for a busy couple months here at Steuben Baptist Church.  This next Saturday we will be having "Common Ground" with us in concert.  They are a group from the county that sing southern gospel.  We have had them in the past and enjoy having them each time they come.  Prior to the concert we will be having a potluck fellowship dinner for all to enjoy.

On Oct. 18th in the Sunday evening service, we have 3 young boys who have a message to give from the Lord.  Each one will give a 5-10 min. sermon and another young boy will have special music.  We are looking forward to this.  Pastor Dale believes that we are to start the boys early when they have a desire to be in service for the Lord.

This same afternoon we will begin play practice for our Christmas play called "A Smoky Mountain Christmas"  We had done this play one other year and had so much fun with it that pastor Dale wanted to do it once again.

Around the corner will be Thanksgiving and we will be kicking off our afternoon services with a big turkey dinner.  After the dinner we will have a pie and sweet auction.  The money will go towards the Sunday School.  We are looking into getting a van to pick up children, so I am sure it will go towards that cause.

Before you know it, it will be Christmas and I am sure I'll have more to bring for news then.  For now, we are thankful for what the Lord has done here and what He continues to do in this little corner of the state of Maine.

Hope and pray all is well with each person who comes and reads this blog and looks through our website.  Please feel free to contact us or write in the guestbook.

Summers activities are over

Yes, our summer activities are over and we are looking forward to the remainder of the year activities.  The last month has been extremely busy for our church family.  Pastor Dale is giving them a break for a little whilesmilebefore we get busy again!

The last week of July, our family went to New Jersey to a Northeast Summit Conference put on by the Solid Rock Baptist Church.  We had such a wonderful time and are so thankful for their dedication to the Lord and all that they did for us.  We met many wonderful people and the Lord filled our cups to overflowing: we came back with a greater vision and burden for this area!

We held Vacation Bible School the first week of August and we had a wonderful week.  The Lord gave us wonderful weather and the kids had a great time.  We praise the Lord for the 2 children who were saved.  On Friday night we invited the parents and other relatives to participate in the activities of the night, and then we closed with a program and gave out awards.  The kids worked very hard during the week.  Make sure you take a look at our "VBS 2009" page to see all the pictures.

Last week, we held our first Baptist Bible Fellowship meeting at our church.  Once again, our church family pitched in and helped and everyone was a blessing to all the preachers and their families that attended.  We had a feed of lobster and chicken and topped it off with blueberry, molasses cake!  We enjoyed the preaching and fellowship time we had during the day and evening.

Our Sunday School is getting a little overhaul and we are praying for more kids.  We will be having a Fall Sunday School contest and know are praying that the kids will get involved and have fun learning about our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

God has been good to us all and He blesses us greatly as we strive to be a lighthouse for Him in Downeast Maine. We thank each and every one of you who pray for us and if there is a prayer request that you would like us to pray about, please feel free to contact Pastor Dale.  His email is on the contact page and we would be happy to go to the Lord on your behalf.

Off for now, visit our guestbook, we would love to hear from you!

Busy Summer ahead

The summer has started out to be a great one here at Steuben Baptist Church.  We have started Jr. Church for the little ones as some are too old for the nursery and too young to sit in church.  They will have their own church service, except one Sunday a month.  The first Sunday of the month they will join us at church and they will provide a special number in song.  That will be very special to hear. wink

I've received our Vacation Bible School stuff and it looks like it is going to be very good.  I have to learn the songs now.  We will be having VBS the first week of August.  Last evening the Campbell Family was with us ministering in Music.  We had a very good attendance and 6 people were saved or rededicated their lives back to the Lord. PTL!  The group has a heart for the Lord and the father, Leo, gave the gospel very clearly and what a blessing they were to all who attended.  Some of the 6 have already approached my husband or I to let us know the decisions they made, so that is encouraging.  It is our prayer that they will grow more in the Lord as we try to reach out and help them in their walk with the Lord.  After the concert, we had ice cream sundaes!  Many enjoyed putting all the toppings on and having a good time fellowshiping.

Last week we attended a pastors fellowship way over in western Maine.  We met a missionary to Scotland.  His testimony spoke to my husband and he and his family will be joining us on July 19th.

So as you can see our summer will be busy with activity, but with the Lords help, it is our prayer that we will see souls saved and lives changed, and it will be worth it all!  My husband spoke on Loving in action yesterday morning, and it is our prayer that our church will be one that shows love in action and not just in word.smile

Don't forget to sign our guestbook, as we would love to hear from you.

Happenings at Steuben Baptist

As I was updating our church website, I noticed a place to add a blog entry.  I thought this might be a good idea for me, the pastors wife, and for Pastor Dale, when he gets a chance, to post about the happenings at Steuben Baptist church. One or both of us will try to post at least once a month.

Since being back, we've seen God work in many little things.  Sometimes, He doesn't show us things in big ways, but He always is working and it's those little things that can make a big difference.

We aren't a big church, but we are a church that loves the Lord and wants to be a light in our community for Him.  Churches go through down times and up times, but as long as we focus on the Lord, we will continue to serve Him.  It's sad sometimes when people get their eyes off the Lord and stop serving Him.  When we all serve the Lord together, so much can be accomlished for HIS glory.

We have a wonderful group of people that attend our church.  This last Sunday we welcomed in a new member.  Sometimes people don't want to become members because they say that it's too political or it's not mentioned in the Bible.  The thing is, is how will a church operate if there are no members?  Who is going to make decisions?  Yes, the Pastor makes decisions, but a body of believers should take part in decision making also. I know people get hurt at one time or another, but those are the times that we need to focus on Jesus, and noone else.

Sunday was also Mothers Day.  What a nice day it was and we gave each mother a carnation and Pastor Dale did a sermon on the "Proverbs 31 Woman".  A goal that all ladies should strive for; hard as it may be some days.

On the 23rd, a missionary family that is raising support to go to Mexico next year, will be with us.  We will be having a Mexican Fiesta on Saturday, then Sunday they will be presenting their ministry.  They have 6 beautiful children, and what a nice family they are.

Coming up this summer is VBS.  I think JJ Jabrone (pastor Dale) will be returning.  Oh what fun we have and it's a great chance for Pastor to act out.lol  The kids love it.

We also will be having a pie auction sometime in the summer and our Sunday School picnic.  There are also a couple of Southern Gospel groups that Pastor Dale has spoken with that will be coming sometime soon.    Busy summer, it looks like.

Well, that's all for now, please sign our guestbook when you get a chance.  We love hearing from you.

In His Service,

Michelle
